Bike App Staff Member (Work Study & Non-Work Study positions available)
Summary | The Bike App Staff Member is primarily responsible for bike maintenance and instruction to patrons. Bike App supports the Appalachian State community through education and advocacy for a more sustainable, bike friendly campus and town. Bike App Staff educate and instruct patrons while helping to maintain bicycles. |

Broadstone Supervisor
Summary | The Broadstone Supervisor is primarily responsible for the overall supervision of the facilities at Broadstone, student personnel, participants, and UREC programs while they are on duty. They are also responsible for enforcing all rules and regulations for the operation of the facility under the prescribed operating procedures. They will have to perform set up/breakdown of areas, conduct general maintenance items, provide quality member service to groups and participants, take control in emergency situations, and answer inquiries. |

Summary | The Climbing Gym Instructor is primarily responsible for providing a safe, inclusive and welcoming environment for all users of the wall through instructing belaying clinics, lead climbing clinics, and route setting clinics. |

Summary | The Climbing Gym Operations staff is primarily responsible for providing a safe, inclusive and welcoming environment for all users of the wall. UREC places emphasis on educating users on safe and effective climbing practices. Staff strive to provide an atmosphere and environment that welcomes all climbers: beginner to expert. UREC seeks staff who have an interest in climbing and a desire to develop their skills. All experience levels are welcome. Those who do not already have basic climbing and belaying skills will have the opportunity to learn these skills prior to employment. |

Climbing Wall Route Setter
Summary | The Climbing Wall Route Setter is primarily responsible for stripping and setting routes on the climbing wall to regularly provide a variety of climbing routes. Outdoor Programs strives to have a variety of climbing routes to welcome and challenge both beginners and advanced climbers. Climbing Wall Route Setters should be able to climb and set a variety of top rope climbs and boulder problems. |

Outing Center Staff (Work Study & Non-Work Study positions available)
Summary | The Outing Center Staff is primarily responsible for providing quality service to guests by accurately answering all questions regarding UREC's outdoor recreation opportunities. Outing Center Staff are the face of UREC's Outdoor Programs to the Appalachian State University community. Staff complete administrative tasks including: renting and maintaining outdoor gear, and signing participants up for Outdoor Programs trips, clinics, and workshops. |

Team Building Facilitator (Work Study & Non-Work Study positions available)
Summary |
The Team Building Facilitator is primarily responsible for facilitating experiences which promote development among groups in the areas of self-efficacy, courage, flexibility, patience, and trust. These initiatives can happen both close to the ground and at heights of up to 50 feet. Programs are objective-driven based on information received about the group’s goals when a group leader books the course. Facilitators are expected to connect the group experiences directly to the group objectives through sequencing, processing, and debriefing initiatives. |

Trip Staff (Work Study & Non-Work Study positions available)
Summary |
Trip Staff is primarily responsible for providing a safe, inclusive and welcoming environment for all participants on trips. UREC places emphasis on educating participants on the specific outdoor activity in which they are participating. Trip leaders are responsible for providing an environment that welcomes all participants: beginner to expert. UREC seeks staff who possess knowledge and experience in a variety of outdoor recreation activities. Some of these activities include, but not limited to; Bouldering, day hiking to multi-day backpacking, canoeing, whitewater paddling, top rope rock climbing, stand-up paddle boarding (SUP), and caving. UREC seeks those who exhibit an outgoing and friendly personality with commitment to learning and teaching. Equipment maintenance and cleaning procedures will be conducted after each trip. Trip staff will be required to participate in an Intro to Outdoor Programs weeklong trip prior to employment. The staff progression will vary based on prior experience and certifications. |
