Fitness Positions

Positions are at the Student Recreation Center and/or the Quinn Recreation Center. The Assistant Director for Fitness & Communications supervises each position.

Fitness Instructor (Work Study & Non-Work Study positions available)

Summary

The Fitness Instructor is primarily responsible for delivering inclusive, active, fun, and engaging Group Fitness classes. The Group Fitness classes will be comprised of one of the following major format categories (cardio, strength, mind/body, dance, and cycle). Fitness Instructors are an essential part of delivering fitness opportunities to our members as a part of a comprehensive Fitness program.

Hours

Fitness Instructor weekly hours will be based on class schedule. Minimum of one class per week.

Salary $10.50 per hour

Required qualifications
  • CPR/AED, First Aid Certification or ability to obtain within 21 days of first day of employment (UREC will provide this training upon hire).
  • Complete the ACE Group Fitness course and successfully pass a fitness audition with the Fitness Leadership team. Or have a current accredited Group Fitness certification.
  • Dedication to University Recreation and a desire to support its Mission, Vision and Values.
  • Preference given to individuals who currently hold a valid fitness certification through ACE, NASM, ACSM or similar accrediting organization.

Personal Trainer (Work Study & Non-Work Study positions available)

Summary
The UREC Personal Trainer is responsible for delivering educational and tailored exercise experiences to a diverse population of students, faculty, and staff. Personal trainers work with members of various fitness backgrounds to provide fitness consultations, assessments, and safe customized programming designed to meet their goals. Personal trainers work to assist our members in setting and achieving fitness goals through scientifically backed approaches of behavior change and exercise science. This is a leadership position that requires an individual who is dedicated to moving our members toward greater health and well-being.
Hours

Personal trainer weekly hours are flexible and vary based on schedule and member requests.

Salary  $10.50 per hour.

Required qualifications

  • Hold a Personal Training certification from a nationally accredited organization such as ACSM, NASM, AFAA, ACE, or similar institutions.
