Broadstone Supervisor

 

Title: Broadstone Supervisor
Reports To: Associate Director & Coordinator for Outdoor Programs
Hours: Based on Class Schedule. Minimum of 5 hours a week.

Position Summary: The Broadstone Facility Supervisor is responsible for the overall supervision of the facilities at Broadstone, student personnel, participants, and UREC programs while they are on duty. They are also responsible for enforcing all rules and regulations for the operation of the facility under the prescribed operating procedures. While on duty, they are the representative of the professional staff and the university. They will have to perform set up/break downs of areas, conduct general maintenance items, provide quality customer service to groups and participants, take control in emergency situations, and answer inquiries. Common sense, responsibility, dependability, maturity and visibility are keys to being an effective and efficient Broadstone Facility Supervisor. Routine cleaning and disinfecting procedures will be conducted regularly. 

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Greet participants and groups and provide them with instructions/information about the facility.
  • Check all doors to ensure security, observe equipment for defects, observe participants for misuse of equipment or inappropriate conduct, periodically check areas for problems, and general encouragement of participants.
  • Ensure the proper use and care of equipment, including to ensure that the facilities are clean.
  • Take responsibility for all keys that access all doors and areas at the facilities.  
  • Ensure that a safe and equitable environment exists at all times for all participants.
  • Handle and report accidents, injuries, and emergency situations.
  • Ensure that all participants follow operating and usage policies.
  • Complete statistics for participation and usage.
  • Oversee preparation, usage, and clean-up for special events and other specific programming (includes campfires).
  • Being able to complete tasks efficiently and without very close supervision.
  • Be a supportive team player and leader for University Recreation.
  • Deep cleaning of all equipment throughout shifts worked and especially at specified designated cleaning times.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required qualifications include:

  • Previous experience within University Recreation or equal experience at a similar recreation facility/setting.

Condition of Employment:

  • Required to attend mandatory training sessions before each semester of employment.
  • Available to work up to seven days per week and have flexibility for morning, afternoon, evening, and weekend shifts.
  • Secure current certifications in CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, First Aid, and Blood Borne Pathogens.  These certifications must be through the American Red Cross or American Heart Association.
  • Facility Supervisors should consider this position as their first non-academic priority.
  • As part of your leadership development, Facility Supervisors should be active participants in UREC throughout the year.
  • Facility Supervisors must be committed to working together and helping each other develop creative ideas and solutions.
  • Facility Supervisors must abide by all University Recreation policies and procedures on and off the clock.

Salary: $8.75 per hour
