Reports To Coordinator for Sports and Activities, Assistant Director for Sports and Activities
Location Student Recreation Center, State Farm Fields, Quinn Recreation Center
Hours/Shifts:

Varies based on programming need: Evening (4pm-12am) Monday-Friday; and Weekends (6am-12am) Saturday & Sunday. Every Friday, 2pm Weekly Meeting.

Duration Sport/Activity Season

Position Summary: Office Assistants are responsible for assisting the Assistant Director in the planning, marketing and scheduling of activities during the summer and upcoming academic year. This includes employee and game scheduling, maintenance of records/data and the creation of new activities. They also gather and store items/information for each shift (clipboards, equipment, etc.). Program assistants are responsible for the ongoing evaluation of the program and its ability to serve the students. They work closely with summer projects to further advance the Sports & Activities program through doing research and creating content. Routine cleaning and disinfecting procedures will be conducted regularly.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Actively recruit participants for the program.
  • Maintain multiple data records based on participant/sport classification.
  • Develop communication packets to include rules, contacts and other information pertinent to each activity.
  • Update meeting/presentation information used to train staff and participants.
  • Responsible for contributing feedback and the creation of weekly schedules and ensuring those are communicated to participants.
  • Submit weekly statistical data on time and in appropriate format.
  • Maintain accurate communication of activity information to participants.
  • Update, implement and conduct all meetings/clinics with organized materials/agendas.
  • Attend all meetings and assist with communicating policies, procedures and rules to participants and staff.
  • Hold daily office hours as scheduled with the Coordinator for Sports and Activities.
  • Gather and maintain accurate equipment for execution of each night’s activity/shift.
  • Go through nightly paperwork for information, statistical data tracking, participant eligibility, etc. and communicate information to appropriate individuals and file appropriately.
  • Spend at least one night a week evaluating and working with participants and staff.  Provide the Assistant Director for Intramural Sports with written evaluations as described in training.
  • Attend all championship games for your active sports unless in class or working for UREC.
  • Maintain supervisor clipboards for each assigned activity including schedules, manuals, phone lists, Daily Activity Reports, etc.
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive Fact Folder for each assigned activity.
  • Prepare administrative Sports & Activity items for the semester.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Coordinator for Sports and Activities, Assistant Director of Sports and Activities or the Associate Director of University Recreation.
  • Deep cleaning of all equipment throughout shifts worked and especially at specified designated cleaning times.

Preferred qualifications include:

  • One or more semesters experience with the Intramural Sports and/or Club Sports Programs.
  • Organized and detail oriented.
  • General knowledge of the Intramural and/or Club Sports Programs.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Knowledge of UREC’s policies and procedures and the ability to enforce them.
  • Certifications in CPR-PR, AED, First Aid, Blood Borne Pathogens. (Provided if needed)
  • ASU Van Driving Certification. (Provided if needed)
  • Dedication to University Recreation and a desire to support its mission.

Condition of Employment:

  • Attendance of mandatory training sessions for the position including medical and van driving courses.
  • Considering this position as their first non-academic priority to fulfill the responsibilities the job and to successfully serve the needs of University Recreation.

Compensation: $8.25 per hour
