Group Interaction Course Facilitator

 

Title: Group Interaction Course Facilitator
Reports To: Associate Director & Coordinator for Outdoor Programs
Hours:

Based on class schedule. 

Position Summary: Facilitators provide low to the ground games and problem solving experiences that focus on building a healthy, new team. The Group Interaction Course includes a standard progression from leisure style games to complex initiatives meant to introduce a moderate level of conflict. Programs are objective-driven based on information received about the group’s goals when a group leader books the course. Facilitators are expected to connect the group experiences directly to the group objectives. This is our most popular course. Group size: 10-30. Time commitment: Typically 5 hours total including time before and after for prep and staff reflection. Routine cleaning and disinfecting procedures will be conducted regularly.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Deep cleaning of all equipment throughout shifts worked and especially at specified designated cleaning times.

Activity Leader:

  • Able to lead at least one name game, one energizer, one piece of mind/body/spirit curriculum and one small group initiative with confidence
  • Supports the leadership of advanced facilitators
  • Familiar with clipboard forms and emergency procedures

Facilitator Level I:

  • Able to lead an entire program progression including: welcome, explanation of expectations, framing the experience, 1 hour and 15 minutes of games and activities for a group of up to 30 participants, a 30 minute intensive activity with a group of up to 15 participants, a 30 minute culminating activity/experience for a group of up to 30 participants and a 10-20 minute final group reflection/debrief
  • Supports the leadership of advanced facilitators
  • Knowledgeable of all opening and closing procedures
  • Familiar with clipboard forms and emergency procedures
  • Demonstrated and reliable strength in necessary skills and attributes as defined above

Facilitator Level II:

  • Meets the skills and abilities of the Facilitator Level I
  • Able to confidently coordinate and direct staff team
  • Able to make and communicate adjustments to the progression based on changing needs related to objectives, weather, staff abilities, medical considerations, etc.

Required Qualifications and Expectations include:

  • Supportive of staff team and group objectives.
  • Professional in communication, appearance and attitude.
  • Commitment to feedback.
  • Passion for making meaning of experiences through thoughtful, guided reflection.
  • Ability to connect role of challenge courses to mental health and wellness.
  • Maintain current certifications in First Aid (or higher), CPR for the Professional Rescuer and NC Epinephrine Administration.
  • Attend 1-2 day kickoff staff training at the beginning of each semester facilitator plans to work.
  • Respond quickly to communication (phone, text, email).
  • Facilitators are expected to wear athletic clothing in good repair with closed toe/closed heel shoes.
  • Demonstrated responsiveness to verbal and written feedback.
  • Respond in emergency situation according to standard of care identified by required certifications.

Salary: $8.00 per hour
